Talibanization issue may widen gap between PPP & MQM
  By Muhammad Muniruddin
KARACHI: The coalition between PPP and MQM is continued and both parties on various occasions are trying accommodating each other but over the Talibanization in Karachi, both coalition partners stand poles apart. The MQM repeatedly have had been insisting since last two months that Talibanizaiton is increasing in Karachi, however, Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza openly rejects this claim of MQM and says there was no Talibanization in Karachi.
Political analysts feel that only this issue could widen the gap between PPP and MQM. They feel that MQM might give up local body issues of monetary side but this party will never compromise over Taliban. The MQM has not raised any voice when their legislators were not inducted in the Federal cabinet and financial crunch is still an issue for the Haq Parast city district government Karachi .
It may be noted that Consul General of Iran on Wednesday called on Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza and expressed his concern on the reports published regarding Talibanization in Karachi. When MQM was contacted and asked whether they have communicated their concern over Talibanization to the diplomats in Karachi and Islamabad, the spokesman said yes MQM had expressed its concern over the Talibanization. The spokesman said during visits at nine zero by diplomats MQM has also given presentation about Talibanization in Karachi.
Sindh Home Minister Zulfiar Mirza has recently gone to London and met MQM founder Altaf Hussan where MQM had also conveyed their concern about Talibanization. The spokesman said they are in constant touch with such families who had received threats and evacuated from their houses, adding that MQM was providing cover to these people. The MQM is repeatedly showing serious concern of security of the people of Karachi and deputed young boys to keep a vigil at night. MQM has also arranged shooting training program for the citizens so that at any emergency they would be in a position to defend themselves. Due to this issue, another coalition partner got annoyed and said that Pahtoons in Karachi are being victimized and this could aggravate the situation. Federal Minister Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and ANP central leader during his visit to PML(F) chief Pir Sahab Pagara had said that there is no Talibanization in Karachi and Pakhtoons living here ate playing vital role in the development of Karachi.
