Education, merit &
justice are important factors for sustainable development:

JAMSHORO: The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Mr. Mazharul
Haq Siddiqui has said that education, merit and justice are
important factors for sustainable development of the society
and urged to invest more on education for its benefits to
the country.
He was speaking as Chief in inaugural session of two-day workshop
on Youth in Governance organized by Transparency International
Karachi in collaboration with University of Sindh and Higher
Education Commission (HEC) on Tuesday. The workshop was attending
by students and teachers from the public and private sector
Universities of the country.
The Vice Chancellor said that governance is a concept, which
relates to control authority most important factors are transparency
and accountability. He said that about governance the efforts
emphasis on two important factors, check and balance and governance
itself. Mr. Siddiqui said that governance should not relate
to government or public sector only but it covers society
as well as organizations. He said that to achieve the object
of the good governance the merit as well as justice is paramount
important .
He said that University of Sindh has developed a system to
enroll students on merit and selection of faculty only on
merit through transparent system.
He said that in result of transparent system and importance
to merit in selection of faculty , the teachers who are engaged
in Ph.D research abroad, reports of their supervisors are
encouraging not only for the University but for the whole
society. He said that how society is important and added that
justice with students and teachers is justice with whole society.
He said that holding accountability is important area, which
would strengthen the governance system. He said that education
is foundation of any society and one of weakness of foundation
of society which is given least important and added that how
much important and attention is given in allocation of funds
for the education. He said that society wants education, society
wants higher education and society wants quality of education
and added that very low allocation as 2 percentage has been
spending by the Country to foundation of society. He said
that quality of leadership in all fields can be produced through
education and set goals can be achieved only with resources
allocated for the best education.
He said that Pakistan is not poor in natural resources and
added that look to Japan, which is spending its GDP, which
is twice to all Muslim countries. The Vice Chancellor said
that with attention on education and human resources and with
paramount importance to merit and justice society can be developed
to achieve its goals for the development.
The Chief Executive of Transparency International Karachi
, the global civil society organization, Saad Rasheed said
that their organization is fighting against corruption, brings
people together in a powerful worldwide coalition to end the
devastating impact of corruption on men, women and children
around the world. On its first day of the workshop, Dr. Asadullah
Kazi Vice Chancellor, Isra University, Dr. Rafia Ahmed Shaikh,
Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Dr. Mansoor Kundi,
Dean of Languages University of Balochistan, Mrs. Hanifa Kazi,
Miss Umera Samreen and other scholars also delivered their
lectures.
Nabi Bux Daudpota’s death anniversary
observed
27th death anniversary of Late Prof. Nabi Bux Daudpota founding
director of the Institute of Business Administration ( IBA)
University of Sindh was observed on Tuesday. A large number
teachers and students attended Quran Khuwani and fateha at
the main auditorium of the IBA. Teachers and students of morning
and evening shifts of IBA led by Dr. Anwar Ali Shah Dean Faculty
of Commerce and Business Administration attended fateha
and floral wreath ceremony at mausoleum of Late Daudpota. |
