ISLAMABAD: The Media Office of the Pakistan
Peoples Party issued a statement clarifying that the Party
Co-Chairperson Senator Asif Ali Zardari’s remarks about
Awami National Party’s stand on the restoration of deposed
judges were misquoted in the media.
“Mr Zardari made no remarks about the ANP’s opposition
to the restoration of the judges, as quoted by a section of
the media. The Awami National Party (ANP) has a very clear
stand on the issue of judiciary and it is not opposed to restoration
of deposed judges,” read the press statement.
The statement further read: “The ANP is a valued ally
of the PPP. It has always been on board as coalition partner
with regard to consultations and decisions on important national
issues. The PPP holds the ANP leadership in the highest esteem
and their contribution towards promoting democracy and strengthening
political system deserves all accolades.”—Agencies |
