Govt should cease military operations in Bajaur immediately: PPP FATA
PESHAWAR: The Vice President of PPPP /FATA, Muhammad Khan has demanded the government to cease all military operation in Bajaur forthwith.
Addressing a press conference in the Peshawar press club, yesterday he said that all military operations should cease well before Ramadan, enabling masses to return to their abodes well before the Holy Month.
He was chagrin at the fact that despite the end of Musharraf’s rule, the innocent and unarmed tribals were being subjected to attacks by security forces, due to which about 400,000 refugees had flooded various parts of the Country, where they were living in bad conditions.
He said that the citizens of Bajaur were bombarded by helicopter gunships, which was unprecedented in the National history. Referring to Rehman Malik’s statement in which the advisor to PM on interior had mentioned the presence of foreigners, Muhammad Khan said that Rehman Malik might as well recount the exact numbers available to him, and how many have so far been killed.
He said that so far 200 innocent and unarmed citizens had been killed by security forces, while the refugees returning to Bajaur from Dir and Peshawar were also not spared.
While demanding immediate cessation of operations by security forces, he also demanded compensation for those who had lost their kin and homes , failing otherwise the PPPP Bajaur would tender its resignation as protest.—Agencies
