Addressing a press conference at Badin Press Club on Wednesday Haji Mohammad Nawaz Memon, Seth Molchand, Bhero Mall, Mohammad Ali Khawaja, Megho Mall, Dr Cheetan Mall and Dileep Kumar said that PASCO has decided that it would purchase paddy from growers but the millers could not comply with the agreement and conditions set by it. They said that PASCO agreement makes it mandatory that Irri-6 size should be more than 8 mm with humidity and mix rice ratio of 12.2 and 2.2-4.5, respectively. The millers said that in Badin district, 16 percent humidity is found in paddy and mix ratio of rice is 10 to 15.

The millers said that PASCO representatives should be available at the mills to check the paddy and purchase the rice within three days of its arrival. The PASCO wanted to create rift between millers and growers, they remarked.
