ISLAMABAD: Registrar Office of
Supreme Court of Pakistan has raised the objections on all
the four review petitions filed by Federation early on Thursday
against court’s verdict in Sharif brothers’ eligibility
case.
According to the SC registrar, the petitions miss necessary
documents, including surety bonds, court fees, paper books
and copy of the court’s earlier verdict in the case,
supposed to be attached with the petitions. The office has
said that the petitions cannot be heard until the objections
are addressed by the filers. On the other hand, Deputy Attorney
General Agha Tariq has termed the objections “technical
and of routine”. “It is the responsibility of
advocate-on-record,” he said, adding that the objections
will soon be removed. Earlier, the Federation filed four petitions
for review of February 25 Supreme Court order that disqualified
Sharif brothers from running for public office. All petitions
have been filed under Article 188 of the Constitution, through
the Secretary Cabinet Division, praying for immediate hearing.
It has been prayed that as the detailed judgment has not yet
been announced, the Federation is filing the review petitions.
The Federation pleads that its petition was dismissed during
the hearing of the case in a short order on the ground that
the same was not maintainable. The Federation was one of the
respondents before the Lahore High Court in the writ petition
No. 6469/2008 wherein the full bench of the Lahore High Court
had delivered the judgement on June 23,2008 against which
the CPLA No. 779/2008 had been filed by the Federation of
Pakistan/petitioner. Being a party to the proceedings before
the Lahore High Court, the Federation of Pakistan had the
locus standi to file the petition under review before the
Supreme Court.—Agencies |
