Khipro: Recently a young 26 year old man from Achhro Thar,
Pritam Lal received the best performance award and a cash
prize of fifty thousand rupees from the Prime Minister of
Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. On his success, local citizens
of his area are celebrating and expressing their happiness.
Pritam lal is known as a young person who posses a sensitive
heart with a keen desire to bring people around him out of
their miseries. He has always tried to lend a helping hand
to those in need.
As a student of Bachelor of Arts, he gathered four of his
friends together to satisfy his urge for social welfare and
formed a group in 2004 which went on to establish a fund with
the name of Harijan. He and his friends collected Rs. 10 rupees
from every house of Hathungo and used the funds for poor people
of the community. From this fund Pritam managed to arrange
dowry for the orphan girls who couldn’t marry because
of their unfortuante circumstances. He also provided food
to extremely poor people of the community.
Along with his welfare work, Pritam also works in his father’s
small general store. Later Pritam along with another few NGO
workers formed a youth group in his area with the name of
Roshan Khayyal Youth Group. Pritam was unanimously appointed
the president of the Roshan Khayyal youth group.
Under the dynamic leadership of Pritam lal, the youth group
has performed a lot of activities such as the formation of
2 CCBs for community development, construction of 25 pit latrines
for the community under a CCB project, setting up of a public
Library under CCB, implementation of NCHD program in the area,
and setting up of a computer centre at Hathungo.
The actions of young people like Pritam prove that we all
can make a difference in bettering our communities and that
other young people must also stand up to make themselves heard
in this regard. |
