ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza
Gilani Friday said government was taking measures to increase
economic opportunities to the people and for alleviating poverty
in the country. In a message on the International Day for
the Eradication of Poverty the Prime Minister reiterated the
government’s strong resolve to realize the vision of
Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed of attaining a democratic,
strong and prosperous Pakistan. The Prime Minister said the
Benazir Income Support program undertaken by the government
aims at providing relief to the poorest segments of the society.
The Prime Minister said the provincial governments have also
been given directions to take effective measures for providing
