MIRPUR (AJK): Third anniversary of deadly earthquake
of October 8, 2005 is being observed across Azad Jammu and
Kashmir on Wednesday to pay tributes to martyrs and other
victims of the natural calamity.
The day will be observed as firmness and determination for
reconstruction in memory of earthquake martyrs coupled with
special prayers for the rest of the departed souls of the
quake victims and to express complete solidarity and sympathies
with the survivors.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Sayed Yousuf Raza Gilani will visit
Muzaffarabad on Wednesday to express solidarity with the people
of quake-hit AJK zone on the eve of 3rd anniversary. The Prime
Minister will perform the ground breaking ceremony of Rs 29
billion Muzaffarabad City Development Project to rehabilitate
the AJK metropolis on modern grounds comprising modern civic
and other infrastructural facilities.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the
construction of about 90-Kilometer-long Muzaffarabad-Neelam
valley dual carriage highway. He will also address a grand
ceremony at a local hotel to be held to mark the third anniversary,
AJK government sources told here Tuesday.
The day will dawn with special prayers in the mosques at Fajr
across AJK for the departed souls of the quake. It will be
a state holiday throughout AJK.—Agencies |
