MATLI: The procurement of paddy and rice with gradual hike in their rates been registered in the open market in lower Sindh areas.
The paddy price, which declined to Rs.450 per 40kg, has now shot up to Rs.670 per 40kg.
The rise in paddy price in open market was registered after the reports that the government would procure 400, 000 tons of rice through the centers setup by PASSCO and TCP at the rate of Rs.700 per 40kg. It is expected that the paddy/rice rates in open market would further increase up to Rs.700 per 40kg within next few days.
