ISLAMABAD: Minister for Communications Dr.
Arbab Alamgir Khan said on Friday that the National Highway
Authority (NHA) and National Highways and Motorway Police
(NH&MP) are two of the most important national organizations
and their best performance can enhance their image, therefore,
no compromise should be made by their officials while carrying
out their duties.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level
meeting of the NHA and Motorway Police officials. On this
occasion, Secretary Communications Sharif Ahmad Khan, Chairman
NHA Altaf Ahmad Chaudhry, DIG Motorway Police Muhammad Salim
Batthi, Member (IT/Motorways) Ashfak Jumani, Member Operations
Akbar Ali Rashdi, Member Planning Raja Nosherwan, and Member
Construction Mir Hassan Rind and Abdul Latif Sheikh were
also present.
The minister said that the NHA and Motorway Police have
an integral relationship with the public, therefore, they
should always be on their toes to solve the problems of
the people and should ensure speedy completion of the tasks
assigned to them.
Arbab Alamgir said that the present government wants to
improve the performance of every department so that the
dream of national prosperity could be realized. He said
that the performance of the NHA and Motorway Police should
be such that it is recognized by the nation and the press.
Earlier, the Secretary Communications Sharif Ahmad Khan
urged the officials that duties should be performed with
discipline, honesty and integrity. The secretary instructed
the officials to take prompt action at the instructions
of Arbab Alamgir and make no lapse or negligence so that
any objections by the Public Accounts Committee of the National
Assembly could be avoided. He said that every effort should
be made to bring the performance of these two organizations
up to the expectations of the public. He also said that
better performance will be rewarded and laxity and negligence
will not be tolerated. The Chairman NHA Chaudhry Altaf Ahmad,
DIG Motorway Police Muhammad Salim Batthi and other members
gave a detailed briefing to the federal minister Dr. Arbab
Alamgir and the secretary communications on the performance
