KARACHI: The Sindh Minister for Human Rights, Ms. Nadia
Gabol, has urged the management of the Karachi Electric
Supply Company (KESC) to improve its performance and also
enhance generation to effectively address the problem pertaining
to the power crisis in the metropolis. In a statement here
on Friday, she was of the view that the load shedding in
the city has started assuming the shape of a human rights
problem.
She urged the management of the KESC to devise a strategy
in order to resolve this very problem. The Minister said
that the load shedding and power disruption was affecting
the lives of the people in the city, and was also causing
water shortages.
She asked the Chief Executive Officer of the KESC to enhance
the production and also streamline the distribution process
of electricity. Ms. Nadia Gabol was also of the view that
action should be initiated against the `Kunda Mafia’.
She opined that in case of the failure on the part of the
KESC to achieve these goals would necessitate its nationalization.
