KARACHI: Snidh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has taken
notice of non-appearance of police officers and personnel
in courts.
He said their non-appearance for recording evidence in cases,
where accused are involved in heinous crimes like dacoities,
street crimes, murders, kidnapping for ransom etc., only
affects the court process and delays the under-trial cases,
the benefit of which certainly goes to criminal elements.
He directed IG Police to make it binding for CCPO Karachi
and RPOs Hyderabad and Sukkur to ensure the appearance of
concerned police officials and personnel in court cases
for evidence. He said strict departmental action be taken
against those who fail to ensure their appearance despite
court summons. The Minister directed that registration of
cases, arrest of nominated culprits, completion of investigation
and after challenging of cases, the police should ensure
its appearance before the courts during hearing of cases
so that punishment is ensured for culprits involved.
