SHAHEED BENAZIRABAD: Deaths of 4 children due to alleged
negligence of doctors in the Pediatric Ward of Peoples Medical
College Hospital (PMCH) Shaheed Benazirabad sparked a protest
that compelled doctors and paramedics to escape from the
hospital. A 1-month-old Arib Panhwar, Noman, Ayaz and Rasool
Bux died due to alleged negligence of the doctors of pediatric
ward.
Talking to media men, Ali Hyder Panhwar, the father of the
deceased child, Arib said that his child was hospitalized
four days ago in the hospital and the doctors did not take
his proper care and added that he said the doctor to discharge
his child because his health was deteriorating but they
refused to discharge him and allegedly administered him
a wrong injection, which caused his death. He alleged that
the relevant doctors are responsible for the death of his
child.
The father of the victim alleged that three other children
also died in the hospital last night due to non-supply of
oxygen. Later, the parents and relatives of the children
held a massive protest demonstration against the deaths
of the children. They raised slogans against the medical
staff and demanded action against the medical staff of the
hospital. During the protest, the staff of the hospital
managed to flee from the hospital. Earlier, when media men
along with photo journalists reached the hospital to cover
incident, the paramedics along with alleged armed men of
a child specialist manhandled them.
Drug peddler awarded life imprisonment
District and Sessions Judge Shaheed Benazirabad, Nisar Muhammad
Shaikh awarded life imprisonment to an accused drug peddler,
Khuda-e-Nazar and imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 on him after
being proved guilty in a narcotics case on Friday. The accused
would be sentenced six months additional imprisonment if
he fails to pay fine.
Police recover fake
currency note and arrest accused
A-Section Police recovered a fake currency note Rs 1, 000
and arrested accused Nasir Ahmed Unar from Cafe Sheeraz
Chowk on Friday. The police lodged a case number 119/2009
under section of 489-C against accused and started further
investigations.
