UAE delegation calls on
CM Sindh, discusses investment prospects |

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has said
that Pakistan and UAE have very old and lasting relations
and our Shaheed Quaid Zulfikar Ali had very close and special
relations with them and these would be further strengthened
by present government. He was talking to the visiting UAE
delegation which called on him at Chief Minister House here
on Friday.
Chief Minister informed that Sindh province is rich in natural
resources and prospects exist for investment in many sectors
here and many countries have showed interest to make investment
particularly in Thar coal development and power generation.
He pointed out that at present country is faced with energy
shortage. The people are bracing the hell of load-shedding
and, therefore, the government desires to develop energy sector
to provide immediate relief to people. Besides, he informed,
vast investment opportunities are also available in the agriculture
sector and agriculture based industries.
He told the delegation that Sindh is basically an agriculture
province where cotton, wheat, sugarcane and rice are grown
as major crops while heavy foreign exchange is earned with
the export of raw cotton and its byproducts and rice. He asked
the UAE delegation to come forward for investment in the agriculture
sector and government will extend all possible cooperation. |
