KARACHI: The federal government is seriously considering a
proposal to appoint “political administrators”
as the present local government system is likely to be extended
temporarily.
According to well informed sources for this purpose all political
parties will be taken into confidence and then the appointment
of political administrators would be made but administrators
from the bureaucracy will not be appointed.
Sources said the election commission of Pakistan has to announce
date of local body election by end of July or in first week
of August.
The present local body system tenure will end by October 17,
2009.
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr Farooq said without
the consent election commission can not announce the date
of local body elections. Sources > Continued on Back
