ISLAMABAD: On directions of President Asif
Ali Zardari, the Federal Government has issued the notification
of 100 percent increment in allowances of soldiers participating
in Operation “Rah-e-Rast”, from July 1.
Sources of Finance Ministry told Online that the Finance
Branch of GHQ has also been informed through the Defence
Ministry that soldiers and officers performing their operational
duties alongside with Western border and in Malakand Division
would get their July salaries with incentives.
Sources said that over 30,000 soldiers are participating
in Operation Rah-e-Rast and Rah-e-Nijat while more than
1,17,000 have been deployed on the Western border, however,
initially, troops participating directly in the fighting
would get additional allowance.
According to sources, 15 to 20 percent increment in salaries
have been announced in the budget to troops participating
in the operation and salaries for other troops to be increased
according to recommendations in the report of Pay and Pension
Committee and entire Army to get salaries with 100 percent
allowance from January 2010.
Sources of Defence Ministry confirmed of receiving the notification
from the Finance Ministry and GHQ has also been informed
and the implementation is underway.—Agencies
