RAWALPINDI: The cases of a former president
and two former Prime Ministers will come up for hearing
before the local Anti- Terrorist Courts, (ATCs) here next
week. These include the “firing of the former President
Mushraff plane case” on December 4th, former Prime
Minister Benazir Bhutto murder case on December 6th and
former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz `Fatehjang suicide case
on December 4th. In Benazir case, Anti Terrorist Court No.
1 will record evidence of the Prosecution as all the accused
had been charge sheeted in the former Prime Minister Benazir
Bhutto murder case. The court recorded the evidence of a
PW (an official of the Bomb Disposal Squad) member here
on Saturday (29.11.2008).
The Judge ATC No.1 Chaudhry Habib-ur-Rehman will take up
the hearing inside Adiala Jail on December 6. Benazir Bhutto
was martyred during a suicide attack here on December 27th
last year. The suicide attack was allegedly planned by Taliban
Commander Baitullah Masud. The Joint investigation team
had arrested five accused. These include Aitzaz Shah, Sher
Zaman, Rafaqat, Hasnain Gul and Mufti Abdur Rashid. The
court had also declared Baitullah Masud as Proclaimed Offender
in this case. The Judge ATC-II Sakhi Muhammad Kahut will
take up former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Fateh Jang suicide
case here on December 4. The Judge had recorded the statements
of two witnesses in the premises of Central Jail, Adiala,
Rawalpindi. The court proceedings are being held inside
Adiala jail due to the security reasons. The Court had already
directed the SHO Fateh Jang police station to produce Aziz
for recording his statement. The accused Moulvi Imtiaz and
Moulvi Usman were allegedly involved in the suicide attack
during the election campaign of the former Premier Shaukat
Aziz. An Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) will take up “firing
on former President Musharraf plane case” here on
December 4. The Judge ATC No. 1 Habib-ur-Rehman had directed
the Prosecution to present the challan of the case on next
date of hearing. The accused Dr. Niaz and Mazhar-ul-Haq
have been charged with firing at the former President’s
plane. The accused, residents of Asghar Mall Road, Rawalpindi
have been accused of firing at the plane from the roof of
their house last year. Besides the above an Anti-Terrorist
Court (ATC) will resume the hearing of the “Wah suicide
attack case” here on December 4. Last week, the Court
had directed the prosecution to submit complete challan
of the Wah suicide attack case on next date of hearing.
The accused Hamidullah, a suspected bomber was arrested
soon after the two suicide attacks, which claimed 70 lives
on August 21, 2008. According to information, obtained from
the accused, Hameedullah, police has recovered suicide vest,
hand grenades and other explosive from Akora Khattak in
Nowshera District on August 25, 2008. Police has registered
a criminal case against the unknown persons under section
302 (murder), 324 (attempt to murder), 435 (mischief by
fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage),
436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent
to destroy house, etc) 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of Pakistan
Penal Code (PPC) section 3 and 4 of Explosive Act and section
7 of Terrorism Act.—APP
