Karachi: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim
Ali Shah last night held a high level meeting at Chief Minister
House regarding setting up a JAPAN SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
near Karachi on 2000 acres of land.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah maintained that industries play vital
role for betterment of economic situation and reducing the
un-employment, while the present Government under its programme
envisaged in Election Manifesto and policies laid down by
party leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto aimed at to maximize
the industrialization together developing the agriculture
sector.
Chief Minister Sindh underlined the need to provide all
facilities at Japan Special Economic Zone so as to boost
up industrial growth with special emphasis to develop agro-based
industries. He hoped that this special zone will encourage
many investors to come and take part by investing for the
purpose. Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that hopefully the Japanese
investors will come and play their role for investing in
the zone, for which Government will provide all types of
incentives and facilities to intending investors. He directed
all departments to provide all incentives in the zone early.
Earlier, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for investments
Mr. Zubair Motiwala in his briefing said that Pakistan –
Japan Business Forum after dialogue between businessmen
in Japan and Pakistan recommended at Tokyo on 15th May 2009
that due attention be given to agriculture and human resource
development with rapid industrialization, for which more
incentives and tax cuts be given while there should be complete
security and political stability.
It was informed that under the vision of President Mr. Asif
Ali Zardari during his Japan’s last year visit; the
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah approved proposed
Economic Zone near Karachi. The zone comprises of 2000 acres
of land near Dhabeji on Karachi – Thatta National
Highway about 50 kms from Karachi having access to National
Highway close to Pakistan Steel Mills, Port Qasim and Quaid-e-Azam
International Airport. It was informed that land of zone
will be developed/leveled and approach road will be constructed
and security of developers/investors will be ensures.—Agency
