Karachi: Provincial Minister for Public
Health Engineering Mohammad Adil Siddiqui has strongly condemned
the unannounced load shedding of Karachi Electricity Supply
Company (KESC), saying if the government failed to contain
the electricity crisis, Karachiites reserve the right of
peaceful protest against the KESC and Muttahida Qaumi Movement
would support them.
In a statement here on Tuesday, the minister said the ongoing
electricity crisis had marred economic and financial activities
of the Karachi and the situation was worsening with every
passing day. He further said on the one hand people suffer
from load shedding in this warm weather and on the other
hand students taking examination are also badly affected.
He demanded to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister
Yousuf Raza Gilani that federal government would take over
charge of KESC administration and give relief to the people
from load shedding.
He said Karachiites provide bigger slice of national revenue,
and they also pay comparatively higher tariff. Separately,
Sindh Minister of Human Rights Nadia Gabool expressed deep
concern over the unannounced load shedding and directed
concern authorities to control this menace. She said due
to load shedding students are facing difficulties in taking
their ongoing examinations, besides trade and industries
are also badly affected.
She said in order to control load shedding, Sindh government
is ready to help the KESC administration.—PPI
